North Barrington, Illinois, is a village in Lake County. Its population is approximately 3,171 as of the 2020 census. It is a suburban community with a thriving business district. North Barrington's founding fathers fought to preserve the natural beauty and countryside character of the community. One of these founders was Dr. Edmund Kimberly, who helped found Rush Medical College. His eldest son married Theodore Roosevelt's cousin, and it's rumored that Roosevelt himself visited the Kimberly family home. The majority of homes in North Barrington fall under School District 220, but the eastern part falls under Ela Township and is served by Lake Zurich School District 95.

Before the Great Depression, the village of Barrington was a small trading center for dairy farmers. The oak-covered hills and marshlands to the north prevented development west of the town. This led to estate development north of Barrington, including the private country club Biltmore. In 1934, the residents of the estates created the North Barrington Association.
